The Zurich Financial Services Group relies on the iPhone and apps as a marketing instrument: together with the Internet agency mediaman, it has developed the accident assistant and launched it in the AppStore. This free application provides people involved in an accident or witnesses with concrete instructions for initial measures at the place of accident. mediaman has assisted with the launch of the application in the store with on-site and blog marketing for the Zurich accident asisstant.

Help anywhere at any time -- this is what the Zurich Financial Services Group promises its customers. The international group of companies in insurance, risk management and prevention has coined the term Zurich HelpPoint for this. As a consequence of this marketing strategy, the Zurich Gruppe Deutschland has delivered online services and information to its insurance customers on their mobile phones.

The mobile accident assistant delivers all information relevant to the case of an accident and explains the required measures at the accident site in text and pictures. The integrated GPS locator ensures that help will find its way to the accident site as quickly as possible. In addition, the application provides emergency call numbers for all countries in Europe, offers access to the camera function for securing proof, and contains form-based assistance for recording the data of all participants as well as the course of the accident.

Initial reviews in the AppStore and reactions in blogs are very positive: the Zurich accident asisstant is regarded as "useful mobile added value" with which one can also "refresh knowledge of first aid measures," and which is "graphically cute, clear, and without a lot of fuss." Shortly after the launch, the new application had already been downloaded more than 1300 times and it ranked 5th among the service programs in the AppStore.

"The company's own app is an outstanding platform for the Zurich brand, for coming into contact with its target groups," emphasizes Andreas Huthwelker, mediaman's Mobile Expert. The accident assistant was developed in close cooperation with the marketing department of Zurich. Furthermore ist was usability tested, and certified for the AppStore by mediaman. Parallel to the launch, mediaman is undertaking additional marketing measures in blogs and on the Zurich Web site.
